a small complaint

I have the application page stalkerpinned, because I like knowing which characters might be coming in, and I couldn't help but notice that you've changed the age rules as a reason to reject an application. I have no comments in regard to the application itself, and this only applies to the rule change.

I don't feel the change was necessary, and believe it cuts out various fandom characters that are perfectly capable of functioning in the setting. I am particularly annoyed because it cuts out characters I'm personally really interested in seeing (Eiko and Vivi from FF9, specifically).

I suspect the ages were set as 5-25 in order to accomodate for such characters, and the rule change has rendered them unappable.

As a side note, I did previously ask the initial mod team how Garden would handle the youngest students previously (here (http://wrmods.livejournal.com/1676.html?thread=375692#t375692)) - it appears that the intention was not to have the younger characters participate in the same classes as the full SeeD program unless they were individually capable. There could most likely be a way to justify the entry of younger students, but cutting them out entirely is - in my opinion - rather unfair.

Thank you for bringing this matter up to us.

We understand that there are special exception characters and we will amend the rules to acknowledge that there are certain younger characters (Vivi and Eiko from FFIX, Rini/Chibi-Usa from Sailor Moon, plenty of other examples) that would, plausibly, fit into the setting and premise. These characters will not be prohibited to apply. However, the Garden Rules were initially created and considered for potential cadets of the canon world; as children in the canon world do not have any special powers which would make it plausible to enter Garden prior to the age of ten, this will not change. Garden Rules and Game Rules are different; for example, while in Garden rules it states that pets are prohibited, technically they can still be housed in Garden so long as the faculty and Disciplinary Committee do not find them.

More or less, we failed to expand further on reasoning the change in the rules; OC and AU characters that are native to the world will not be able to enroll within the academy if they are younger than the age of ten unless there are extraneous reasons (such as a special ability that needs to be controlled) for an early enrollment to be permitted. As noted, we will add on a subnote to the change of rules in the Garden Rules section, and also add on another part to the Game rules/ FAQ to explain our reasoning.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you see any further problems which our change in rules may spark.

Thank you for answering so fast! So, in this case, the justification would be to confine/monitor/support those with unique abilities. That makes sense!

However, I would like to quickly correct you on the canon admission age (sorry!) - my copy of FF8 actually does have it as "5-15" year olds, according to the classroom terminals. Of course, mine is the PAL edition, which has a few small differences (like Selphie's weapon being "shinobu") - I don't know if this is one of them.

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2010-11-23 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for the correction! We just checked the FF Wiki and you are in fact correct; the admission age is 5-15, so it was an error on our part. Unfortunately we assumed because the youngest of the canon characters enrolled at the age of 10 that it was the earliest age of admittance.

After a thorough discussion with the rest of the mod team, however, we've decided that for the purpose of this game we will keep the admissions age between 10-26 with the special exceptions amendment still in effect. The plot and setting are a bit difficult to incorporate younger characters with no special abilities into, especially since they would be considered junior cadets and their education will have to be prolonged even further; they would require a completely different course selection which, at the time, would not be possible for us to structure given the amount of tasks the mod team already has on their plate. Ultimately this change in rules wouldn't effect most future applicants as younger characters with abilities will still be able to apply; this is geared towards characters native to the world and the number/type of NPCs assumed within the school.

I love this game. You guys work so hard to make it welcoming and fun and I love how much devotion you've put into game. It feels like you tender to each player and help them whenever you can. Such hands-on modding...you also go out of your way to make sure that there are events to participate in, and with your work and your input, it really does feel like a school.

This is a lovely rp. Thank you for making it.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate your feedback, and we're so happy that you think we've been doing a great job. We really strive to make this game as welcome and fun as we can, but a large part of that is due to the players and their openness as well as their patience, not to mention the great ideas they possess for player plots and contributions to game events. We're so glad to see that you're enjoying your time here!

Halp halp Mikuru's not on the dorm list. (She's in B109 with Rose Tyler.)

Just trying to avoid another triple booking mishap /o/

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry about that! We've fixed it, thank you for pointing that out!

Hello there. On the Para-Magic/GFs page (http://wrmods.livejournal.com/6899.html), there seem to be quite a few images broken! That's all. Not sure if you even need to know, but this is just in case you didn't and wanted to!

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2011-08-27 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you for letting us know! Is it the first two images that aren't showing up? They show up fine for us but if others can't view it then we will gladly upload it on a different image hosting site.

[identity profile] whitemount.livejournal.com 2011-08-27 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, they're the small images underneath GFs names. I am unsure if they are actually images, because upon looking at the source, they say "img src=align=" but with no URL...? I will feel dumb is this was purposeful.

a question

[identity profile] shurikenfemale.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I noticed today that there is a tag for FFVI's Terra but it says AU, do I need to have a tag for Cissnei that is AU? I've been using just the FFVII: Cissnei tag so far but like I said in the app I'm bringing her in from another game so I'm not sure what to do here.

Re: a question

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2011-09-22 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Apologies for our delayed response! We've actually decided a couple of weeks ago that characters applied with memories from another game will not be considered AU unless their personality has been greatly affected from their stay in another setting. Thus the tag [ffvii] Cissnei will be just fine.

Hey! I'm a potential applicant and I'm wondering why the taken page is locked? I figure you guys would want to know about it because it makes it pretty difficult to app into a game if you don't know who's taken and who isn't. Thank you!

[identity profile] sleevetug.livejournal.com 2011-10-06 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Just to clarify: I can get to the taken lists on the profile but the link on the navigation leads to a locked page. I figured that out after looking this morning, fff.

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry about that! We had recently revamped the taken page and locked the old one. Do you remember in which navigation that the link was broken so we can fix it?

Thank you!

the taken link is broken on this page :>

[identity profile] itsnotbunny.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, so. I only just noticed Barnaby is gone from both the dorms and the taken list. Was there a message I didn't get, or is it a mistake?

[identity profile] wrmods.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a mistake on our part! We're incredibly sorry; we must've looked over an old AC list by accident (since we did receive your message about AC).

We've gone ahead and put him back on the taken list and the dorm rooms. Is there anything else we accidentally took off? :( Or is that it?

[identity profile] itsnotbunny.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I don't think he's missing from anything else, so it should be fine now. \o/

Couple tiny mistakes on the Dorm Room page:
-Edward Elric's journal link links to "journal" instead of his actual account "talktothearm"
-Jack Spicer is listed as "Jack Splicer"

Thanks! I just noticed you fixed the other "journal" journals too. You're quick!

Nitpicking the applications post: there's a line at the top saying apps are usually processed on Tuesdays, then a whole bunch of stuff at the bottom talking about a schedule that starts on Fridays. At least one of them isn't true, right? |D

I feel a bit like a party-pooper bringing this up, but... Would it be possible to put more of the mod posts behind cuts? (Or at least cut parts of them?) I feel like the last few posts have been really long, and yes, okay, I have a scroll button--but even so, I'll admit that it gets a little tiresome to have to keep scrolling around giant walls of text when I'm trying to find another post. XD;

Anyway, just my two cents. Keep on rockin', WR.

Some incredibly minor things that bug me: Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and Jin Kisaragi (BlazBlue) have misspelled tags in [community profile] witchesreign, and Tavros Nitram (Homestuck) is misspelled in the wanted characters list. Also, if I didn't have net problems I'd make a list of all the characters who've made / tagged posts in the past couple of months but don't have visible comm tags yet, since there are a few IIRC...
